[LINUX] Steps to install CentOS 8.1 in Virtual Box
Prerequisites
-** VirtualBox 6.0 ** installed
--Downloaded CentOS-8.1.1911-x86_64-dvd1.iso
--Host OS: ** Windows7 ** (fixed IP address: 192.169.0.2/24)
--Guest OS: ** CentOS-8.1.1911 ** (fixed IP address: 192.168.0.10/24)
Installation procedure
1. Start VirtualBox
Double-click the VirtualBox launch shortcut to launch VirtualBox.
2. Create a new virtual machine
Click New in Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager.
3. Create a virtual machine
Enter the following and click the "Create" button.

6. Virtual machine settings
With "** CentOS-8.1.1911 **" selected, click the "Set" button.

8. Virtual machine (storage) settings
Set the DVD image CentOS-8.1.1911-x86_64-dvd1.iso as the boot disk.

9. Virtual machine (network) settings
Select "Network", select "Bridge Adapter" as the adapter, and click the "OK" button.
10. Start the created virtual machine
With "** CentOS-8.1.1911 **" selected, click the "Start" button.
(CentOS-8.1.1911-x86_64-dvd1.iso will be started as the installation media at startup.)
11. Menu selection
Select "Install CentOS Linux 8.0.1905" and press the "Enter" key.
12. Select the language to use during installation
Select "Japanese" as the language to use during installation and click the "Continue" button.
13. Keyboard settings
Click "Keyboard".
Make sure it is in Japanese and click the "Finish" button.
14. Language support settings
Click Language Support.
Make sure Japanese is selected and click the "Finish" button.
15. Installation source settings
Click "Install Source".
Make sure that "Auto-detected installation media" is checked and click the "Finish" button.
16. Software selection settings
Click Select Software.
Select "Base environment", "Other software in the selected environment" and click the "Finish" button. (Here, select "Server (using GUI)" as the base environment, and select "FTP server", "Development tool" and "Graphical management tool" as other software in the selected environment to install.)
17. Installation destination settings
Click "Install to".
Check the contents of the installation destination and click the "Finish" button. (Here, "Automatic configuration" is selected as the storage setting, but it is also possible to select "Custom" to set the partition.)
18. KDUMP settings
Click "KDUMP".
Uncheck "Enable kdump" and click the "Finish" button. (This time it is for trial use, so I unchecked it, but if you want to refer to the kernel dump when a problem occurs, check it.)
19. Network and host name settings
Click Network and Hostname.
Turn Ethernet on and click the Settings button.
Open the "IPv4 Settings" tab, select "Manual" as the method, enter the address, netmask, gateway, and DNS server, and click the "Save" button. When setting multiple DNS servers, enter them separated by ,.
Enter the "Host Name", click the "Apply" button, and then click the "Finish" button.
20. Date and time settings
Click Date and Time.
Select "Region" and "City", set "Network Time" to "On", and click the "Set" button. (Here, "Asia" is set for the region and "Tokyo" is set for the city.)
After setting the NTP server, click the "OK" button. The following Japanese NTP servers are set here.

Click the "Finish" button.
21. Start installation
Click the "Start Installation" button.
22. Setting root password
Click Root Password.
Enter the root password and click the Finish button.
If you also want to perform "Create User", click "Create User" and enter the user information.
The installation will continue.
23. Reboot after installation is complete
After the installation is complete, click the "Restart" button.
You can see that there is an error at startup. This error will be addressed later.
24. License agreement
Click License Information.
Check the contents, check "I accept the license agreement", and click the "Finish" button.

Click the "Finish Settings" button.
25. Log in as root to check
Click "Can't find your account?"
Enter "root" as the user name and click the "Next" button.
Enter your password and click the Sign In button.
Make sure that "Japanese" is checked on the "Welcome" screen, and click the "Next" button.
Make sure that "Japanese" is checked on the "Input" screen, and click the "Next" button.
On the "Privacy" screen, set "Location services" to "Off" and click the "Next" button.
Click the "Skip" button on the "Online Account" screen.
Click the "Get Started with CentOS Linux" button on the "Ready" screen.
The "For first-time users" screen will be displayed. Click the "x" button to close it.
Click "▼" and then click the "Power" button.
Click Power Off.
26. Resolve startup errors
Eliminates the startup error that occurred in "** 23. Reboot after installation is complete **".
With ** CentOS-8.1.1911 ** selected in Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager, click the Settings button.
After selecting "Display", select "Vbox VGA" as the graphic controller and click the "OK" button.
- However, if you select "Vbox VGA" as the graphic controller during installation, the screen will freeze when the installation is complete. It seems that you should select the default "VMS VGA" for the graphics controller during installation.
With ** CentOS-8.1.1911 ** selected in Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager, click the Launch button.
Make sure it starts without any errors.
