It is a chopstick rest. I'm studying a lot, so I think everyone knows Linux is generally an OS. (It's nice now that the kernel is confusing.)
It's the same as Windows or Mac. I hadn't heard of it before I entered the IT industry.
I think the biggest reason for using Linux is open source. You can use it for free, and you can play with the OS yourself. Windows costs money and you can't play with the OS. It's a big advantage.
