[PYTHON] Study abroad, change jobs and become a Pyhon engineer from the 30s

A story about studying abroad from the 30s and changing jobs to an engineer of the desired job

Nice to meet you!

Here, I will write how a crane operator in his 30s who graduated from high school changed his job to an engineer!

And I hope that people like me who have lived so far can become engineers, and that people who choose the same path and study will have the courage.

Self-introduction

I retired from the company I worked for for more than 10 years in June last year and went to study abroad as an engineer in Cebu Island, Philippines from October to the end of December.

My characteristics at the time of informal appointment

Gender man Age 32 years old Previous job Crane operator Half a year of programming experience (3 months for self-study, 3 months for study abroad)

Why did you study abroad?

To put it simply, I have anxiety about the company I worked for before and want to continue to live happily and positively.

Anxiety about the company I worked for before

Isn't this the same situation for quite a few industrial companies?

・ There are many troubles in the company ・ My boss is not motivated ・ Many people have no hobbies other than alcohol, gambling, and tobacco. ・ The quality, quantity and salary of work are not commensurate

I have been working for a company that has something like this for many years. Having said that, I enjoyed playing guitar, golf, motorcycles, and baseball every day as a hobby.

However, from now on, at least for nearly 30 years until retirement, I decided to change jobs because I didn't want to stay at this company all the time.

Why are you an engineer?

In the end, I decided to become an engineer, but that was not the case from the beginning. I was thinking about this kind of thing in my own way.

I want to work in a beautiful place

The previous company worked in a factory where dust was widespread. That's why I first thought that I wanted to work in a beautiful place if possible.

Just changing jobs is only a risk

What this means is that you have to pay a certain age-conscious salary in every industry.

Hiring an inexperienced person in his thirties is simply costly. Considering this, it means that younger people are better, right? It should take about the same amount of time for both to become the strength of the company, right?

Even if I study abroad because of this, I can't even become an engineer after all. That was in the corner of my head until I got a job offer.

Therefore, when I change jobs to an inexperienced industry, I think it is necessary to be able to prove skills that can be convinced to some extent.

I think it's good that getting a qualification is also a proof of proper knowledge.

More IT engineers will be needed from now on

When I get this information, it seems difficult, but can I do it? I thought that. However, I'm sure that engineers work in the office, so it's definitely a cleaner place than the previous job. And I think there is a chance that I don't have enough manpower. I thought.

I didn't just jump in.

No matter how good the job of an engineer is, what can I do? You won't know this until you try it.

Thinking like this, I did a pro gate and looked up information on YouTube. I don't know if I can do it after that, but I want to try it! That's why I decided to become an engineer.

Why did you study abroad?

I think studying abroad without a purpose is meaningless, and if you just want to become an engineer, you should study in Japan.

However, when I was little, I vaguely thought that studying abroad was cool.

At that time, it was a complete dream. I am the second son of four siblings. With so many siblings in a typical household, it was quite difficult every day. And considering my parents who are having a hard time, I couldn't say that I wanted to go to university as well as study abroad. And I remembered when I decided to leave the company.

And fortunately, I found out that there is an engineer school overseas. Then I decided to study abroad because I wanted to study abroad while playing at the resort.

I was able to study English

Regarding English, I thought that if Japan were to continue the same system after the super-aging society was over, it would be necessary for people to move from overseas.

And I think that what you need at that time is English, not Japanese.

After all, Japanese is a difficult language and a top class language.

And if I need it in the future, I thought that if I study now, I will acquire new skills and it will be convenient when I go on an overseas trip.

However, my English skills were handled by a teacher I hated when I was in junior high school, so I always slept in class. Lol What a waste!

Before going to study abroad

I think acting without any preparation can just waste time and money.

That's why I was studying English and programming on my own for three months before studying abroad.

When it comes to programming

・ I was able to get used to programming ・ I was able to type to some extent ・ I was able to grasp the basic configuration

And before going to study abroad as an engineer

・ What are HTML, CSS, Js, PHP? ・ Difference between front end and back end

I studied this much before going to study abroad.

I don't think everyone should do this because it depends on the purpose, If you want to acquire certain skills during your study abroad period, or want to get a job after studying abroad, I think that this is what you need to do before studying abroad.

English is

・ Review of junior high school level grammar ・ Practice your own pronunciation

I have no knowledge or experience of speaking English, so this is about it.

However, I think it is essential to learn grammar. Why don't Japanese study grammar during study abroad? It's easy if you learn grammar and grammar! Was often said.

I'm a student.

Even such a simple thing cannot be assembled without knowing the grammar.

I also wanted to be able to speak, so I thought speaking was important.

What I was curious about was what to do if I couldn't understand what I was saying.

Isn't this the same problem that many Japanese have? So if you can pronounce the words and words you know at least properly, you will lose your fear of speaking. that's what I thought.

Actually, it seems that words can only be heard when you can speak.

So, let's do our best after studying abroad! Instead, I think it's better to think of it as a place to pre-learn, to try what you have accumulated so far, or to awaken.

Study abroad!

I was blessed with batchmates and had the best study abroad period.

That said, I was worried before studying abroad.

・ Can you keep up with young children? ・ What if the engineer's curriculum is tight? ・ First time living abroad ・ What to do if you are frustrated

Anyway, even after deciding to study abroad, I was full of anxiety! I remember that my anxiety grew as the day of studying abroad approached.

If you write here what you actually learned by studying abroad, it will be too long, so take another opportunity!

Job hunting

This is my second job hunting in my life.

The first time was when I was in high school. That said, I'm a high school student, and I thought that the company wouldn't look at high school students with such strict eyes.

Actually, I got a job offer at the first company, so I had no trouble with it.

However, this time it is different from high school students in their 30s. In my thirties, I was trying to change jobs to an inexperienced job, so I knew it wouldn't be easy.

Even so, when I applied for a job and experienced that I couldn't even get an interview or even a reply, I was quite depressed.

I think that the number of companies that actually applied for companies in all media will exceed 10 and will be about 15 companies.

Among them, only the company that received the offer was actually interviewed.

I thought that if I had an individual interview, I would definitely get a job offer, but one company was interviewed by 15 companies ...

It's tough. I also took an exam on the web.

I did my best, but the company went down.

Even so, I was able to get a job offer at the end.

Now you can study with confidence.

Finally

This time I wrote about my decision to study abroad and getting a job offer.

I regret that the content is thin because I have put together things for a fairly long period of time. And about the job hunting that I wanted to write first, it's almost thin ...

However, I would like to write something that is meaningful to those who have read what I did about job hunting next time.

Thank you for reading to the end.
